The Genero Team

My motivation to start Genero came after managing a branch of a large national audio visual supplier and always having an ambition to have my own business. I noticed a gap in the UK event market for a company that not only supplies equipment but provides a full event service. That was over 20 years ago now and the motivation still burns strong.

I would like to think as the MD of Genero I recognise that people are key to the organisation’s strength and I always encourage the staff to be the best at what they do. I believe I empower them to succeed through individual performance and team work.

The best part of running this business is the reward of providing a service to be proud of. Developing, growing and striving forward through the ups and downs but most of all, Genero has been started from scratch and to see where the journey has reached so far makes me immensely proud.

Managing Director

Nic joined Genero with years of experience in the commercial sporting world, with a key focus on business development, strategy and marketing.

“Being one of the newest members of the Genero team I’m excited to make a strong start and help bring about transformative changes to align with the company’s exciting plans for the future, keep your eyes peeled!"

As an avid sports fan, Nic will often spend his weekends keeping up-to-date on games and cherishing time with his family.

Commercial Director

One of my favourite aspects of my job is winning new business and delivering super successful events! Having worked in the theatre, exhibitions and live events industry for over 30 years now, I would say I’m a self-confessed ‘Production Guru’. When not in work, I love cooking and gardening, especially with a glass of Caribbean rum in hand, taking inspiration from my recent visit to Jamaica!

Jacob Grocott

Project Manager

Karl is a valued member of the Genero team who comes from a health and safety background, a handy skill to have on site, especially when setting up stages and doing the physical work that comes with event production!

While Karl enjoys the physical side of the job he wants to explore the technical side more, particularly in AV. Being part of such a close knit team is important to Karl, he enjoys his role at Genero and the people he shares his time with.

When Karl isn’t at events, he is often watching gymnastics ones where his daughter is often competing! He also enjoys hitting the gym himself and keeping fit and healthy.

Event Services Operative

Having previously worked with Genero as a business adviser, I was delighted to come on board with Genero as chairman. As well as chairing board meetings, providing strategic advice and guidance, I enjoy working closely with the team, managing and motivating them to realise their potential. Genero is a strong brand in the events market and has a very exciting future.

I am also looking forward to getting a few golf tips from Peter Leckie and one day beating Tom Shanklin!

Outside work I am an active sportsman. I still play football (proper football not walking football!) and am very proud to have been part a local football society for the last twenty years. I also play competitive badminton and enjoy TRX training. My wife and I enjoy travelling and visiting our four sons, currently based in Cardiff, Hong Kong and New Zealand.

Operations Director

One of the best parts of my job is seeing a project develop from enquiry to final show set up! It brings a great satisfaction when we work hard on a project and it is a success. When not in work I enjoy spending time with my family. We have recently become a family of four, so I’m kept pretty busy with a toddler and a new born!

I am very productive with my work and enjoy the feeling of accomplishment that comes with an empty inbox at the end of the day! I love seeing the photographs of Genero’s work on social media, as I would not be able to see it usually and some jobs have been quite spectacular! In my spare time, I enjoy going to gigs the most, but that only happens a few times a year (as I’m also a busy Mum), so I fill in some weekends watching non-kid’s films at the cinema. I also love the gym and doing up my house. I think I would make a lousy decorator though!
